In preparation for the holiday we went strawberry picking yesterday.
This is my granddaughter. She helped with the picking and also the eating.
I love an easy summer dessert
All you need for this one is a cake. I used an angel food cake from the store, fresh strawberries, and whipping cream or ice cream.
To make the syrup take some of the strawberries and chop them up and place them in a pot with a little sugar and a little water. I cooked them until they were soft and then pressed them through a sieve. The syrup thickens a little as it cools
Place a piece of cake on a plate add whipped cream, strawberries and pour on some syrup.
We will have a quiet celebration this year.
