Set the Table - Strawberry Hill




In Ontario, locally grown strawberries are pretty much over by the end of June.  If it is not too hot they will sometimes last until early July.  
Strawberry season is very short.




They look yummy.  There was too much rain and not enough sun.  Although they look good they are not very sweet.

I'll be forced to eat them with ice cream.




I have set the table in the breakfast nook.





The title of this blog, "Strawberry Hill", is really a reference to the dishes of the same name.  They are produced by Wedgewood.












The two-tiered tray is filled with dishes, a pair of roosters, napkins, and a tea caddy.






The Red Roosters on the table contain strawberry jam all ready to spread onto toast.


















The dinner plate and bread and butter plate are Strawberry Hill.

    Poor baby, forced to eat those strawberries with ice cream! I had my first local berries last weekend in Northern Michigan and they looked much like yours -- each one perfect, so sweet they needed no sugar. Nice, plump, perfect. I think I probably have one or maybe two more market days to nab some more. (I bought four quarts. We ate four quarts. In three days. At least there aren't loads of calories in a quart of strawberries!)

    Your table is lovely and I think that would be a pretty darned wonderful Canada Day celebration table as well! I send you good wishes on your holiday and 150 years! I can't remember if I have told you how much I love Canada and in fact am having my first visit to Quebec City in August (Rick will ride his bicycle there from here and I'll meet him!). Have a beautiful weekend.

      You're really making me feel bad about my lousy strawberries. You've eaten four quarts already without sugar. Yours were so perfect! I am laughing so hard I can hardly type.

      I think you will really like Quebec City, especially the old city. I haven't been there for a few years. Does Rick's bicycle have a motor? (This is my concerned voice.)
